Looking back on learning... Language Arts  Students learned about words containing the oo/u sound, such as the words book, look, cook, and put.  Students also used a picture prompt to inspire their writing. We focused on including a clear character and setting in our stories and used our imaginations to create interesting narratives. It was exciting to see the creativity and unique ideas students brought to their writing!  Math  Students spent time reviewing many of the concepts they have learned throughout the year. Student practiced skills including:  - Addition and subtraction (with and without regrouping)  - Place value  -2D and 3D shapes and Shape attributes  Science  Students began creating a plant growth flipbook to summarize their learning from our Living Systems unit. Week of June 1

 Looking back on learning...  Language Arts  Students focused on words with the long O sound spelled oa and ow and long I sound spelled ie and igh.We practiced reading, spelling, and using these words in different activities throughout the week. To help reinforce our learning, we played a fun game of Bingo using our long O and long I words.  Math  Students continued learning about 2D and 3D shapes. We explored how shapes can move through slides, flips, and turns, and practiced sorting shapes based on their different attributes. Students also learned how to identify and describe features such as faces, edges, and vertices. As part of our hands-on learning, we even built our own paper cubes to better understand how 2D shapes come together to create 3D objects.  Wellness  Students learned and practiced the steps for solving a problem. We discussed strategies for working through challenges calmly and respectfully and talked about ways we can solve problems...
