Week of May 19

Looking back on learning...  Language Arts Students practiced reading and writing words with the long E sound spelled ee , ea , and ey . We used these spelling patterns to write sentences and worked on using capitals, spacing, and punctuation correctly.  Math We began learning about 2D and 3D shapes . Students explored the different attributes of shapes, including faces, vertices, and edges .  We also worked on connecting 2D and 3D shapes by recognizing how 2D shapes make up the flat surfaces, or faces , of 3D objects. Students enjoyed identifying shapes in the classroom and discussing how they relate to objects we use every day.  Science Students learned about the life cycle of a flower . We explored each stage of the cycle and discussed how plants grow and change over time.  To help reinforce this learning, students created a craft showing the different stages of a flower’s life cycle. Week of April 27

We had another great week filled with learning, creativity, and collaboration! Students worked both independently and with partners, and it was wonderful to see their engagement across all subject areas.  Phonics  Stude nts focused on the  /ur/  and  /ir/  sounds found in words such as  fur ,  turn ,  bird , and  shirt . We practiced reading and spelling words with these patterns through daily phonics routines and activities.  Students are continuing to build confidence in recognizing these sounds and applying them in both reading and writing.  Writing  Students  learned about the format of letter writing. We discussed the different parts of a letter and how to organize our ideas clearly. We will continue writing Friday letters home to families so you can stay connected and see what we’ve been learning each week.
