Week of April 20

We had a busy and exciting week in our classroom! Students worked hard across all subject areas, and we spent time preparing for our Spring Concert. After lots of practice, students did an amazing job and truly shined during their performance on Thursday evening. We are so proud of them!

Phonics
Students focused on the /er/ sound found in words such as her, term, and winter. We practiced reading and spelling words with this pattern through daily phonics routines and activities. Students are continuing to build confidence in recognizing and using these sound patterns in both reading and writing.

Writing
Our class learned about Earth Day and discussed ways we can all help keep our planet healthy. They wrote about how they can do their part, sharing thoughtful ideas such as recycling, reducing waste, and taking care of the environment.
We also completed a reading comprehension activity focused on reduce, reuse, and recycle, helping students better understand these important concepts and how they can apply them in their everyday lives.

Math
Students have been practicing 3-digit addition and subtraction with regrouping. We focused on carefully lining up numbers by place value and working step-by-step to solve problems accurately.
Students are continuing to build their understanding of place value and regrouping, and are becoming more confident when working with larger numbers.

Science
Students learned about parents and offspring. We explored how young animals are related to their parents and practiced matching different animals with their offspring.
Students enjoyed making these connections and learning more about how living things grow and change.
